Reiki and Chronic Back Pain

My story starts many years ago, when I injured my back. Over time, it has gradually gotten worse, to the point where my doctor sent me for an MRI scan, due to me trapping nerves and being in a lot of discomfort, and painkillers were prescribed in the meantime.
After the scan, I had an appointment with a consultant, who gave me two options to consider. The first option was to have injections in my spine every few months, and the second option was to have an operation to put a titanium bar in my spine. He made a further appointment for a month later to discuss the decision I had made.
The reason was degeneration of the spine, characterised by numerous disc bulges, particularly in the lumbar region, as well as abnormal narrowing and loss of disc height, which leads to nerve impingement.
My next appointment kept being cancelled by the hospital, so the month turned into a year.
In the meantime, I did self-Reiki and meditation, and only took a couple of painkillers during that time.
On seeing the consultant, his first comment was how much better I was walking as he escorted me to his office. He asked how I was managing, what painkillers I was on, and which option I had decided upon.
I told him I had been self-managing using a holistic approach, Reiki and Meditation, and had only had two painkillers the whole year. This approach had helped me immensely, so I wished to continue with that for at least the time being.
He told me that I was walking better and that he would refer me back to my doctor, but to get in touch if anything got worse. The MRI was three years ago, and my final consultation was two years ago. Thanks to Reiki and self-belief, my back feels significantly better than it did three years previously.
I still have twinges and occasional nerve-trapping, but not as bad as previously. Also, I haven't had a painkiller in over two years.
