How Reiki Can Change Our Relationship With Food
My spiritual journey and personal quest to feel more connected to All That Is has resulted in a vast shift in my eating habits over the last 5-6 years and it’s still continuing. Many of my students are organically finding themselves on a similar journey, where they are naturally not wanting to eat certain foods or ingest alcohol.
WHY REIKI CAN CHANGE OUR DIET
The underlying reason seems to be to remove as many toxins from the body as possible so we can reach higher states of consciousness and the body can raise to a higher frequency where more light energy can be received for downloads, healing, health and happiness.
I became a pescatarian over 5 years ago because I wanted to eat food containing less toxins. However, I was still worried about the toxins in fish. Two years later, I felt a compelling sense of compassion for the animals and their suffering. It wasn’t just about the toxins anymore. I knew I needed some shock therapy to really line up with this new desire, so I watched a YouTube video by a vegan activist about the food industry and never looked back.
Full transparency… Maybe once or twice a year, I might be tempted by a Caribbean salt fish fritter… 😉
WHY ADDICTIONS FORM
I’m starting to deal with my sweet-tooth by eating lots of fruit (I call it nature’s sweets). As a result I find I have a ton of energy and can feel more Reiki energy, which is beautiful! I’m not eating as much refined sugar as I used to, but if there’s vegan cake about - it’s game over. 😅
Addictions are usually filling a void harboured by the wounded / shadow part of ourselves. In my experience of coaching clients through their addiction to smoking, I know that the addictive substance is always a substitute for some emotional need.
WHY WE CRAVE SUGAR
So many of us struggle with sugar. Not only is the chemical compound of refined sugar very addictive, the sweet flavour and the immediate high we get can often remind us of our childhood.
If we had a difficult childhood, eating sweets may have been one of the few moments of comfort and happiness we experienced, so we can understand why we might be drawn to that emotional anchor as adults.
For me, having lots of fruit to pick at in the kitchen or dates and peanut butter (tastes like a Snickers bar!) helps me reduce my refined sugar intake. My energy detoxification journey continues to evolve. I gave up alcohol a few months ago and try to buy organic fruit & veg when I can - It’s so much cheaper now the supermarkets are on board.
I’ve used natural products on my body for years (natural body butters, face oils, toothpaste and deodorant etc) and I’m now experimenting with non-toxic, household cleaning products.
So the journey continues. I’m being guided to do all of these things very, very slowly, mind you, with total compassion for myself and I would recommend the same for you if this is also your desire.
With love and light
