Becoming Trauma Informed - FREE Training
Over the past few months, several of my students have asked me about trauma-informed training so they can deepen their understanding of trauma, not to fix it but to hold space with more sensitivity, compassion, connection and awareness.
It’s a powerful question, and it shows how much we’re all recognising the importance of meeting others with compassion, patience and safety.
WHAT DO WE MEAN BY TRAUMA?
When we hear the word “trauma,” many of us think of big, life-changing events but trauma can also come from experiences that leave lasting emotional imprints, even if they seem small from the outside.
Examples include:
Experiencing or witnessing abuse, violence or neglect
Serious accidents, injuries or illness
Bereavement and loss
Bullying, discrimination or being excluded socially
Living with ongoing high levels of stress, instability or fear
Experiencing war, conflict or displacement
The truth is, many of us carry unresolved trauma. We might walk through life with heightened anxiety, hypervigilance, constant anger, detachment, intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, difficulty trusting others or a tendency to shut down emotionally, all without ever having sought therapy or support.
This is why trauma-informed awareness is important. It helps us see people (and ourselves) with more compassion, instead of judgment.
FREE TRAUMA-INFORMED TRAINING
In exploring this, I came across a brilliant free training hosted by Thrive LDN, developed in partnership with Nicola Lester Psychological Trauma Consultancy. When I went through the training, I couldn’t wait to share it with this community. I’m not sponsored to share this - Thrive LDN generously encourages the sharing of this training so more people can become trauma-aware.
What I love about this resource is that it isn’t just for professionals; it’s valuable for anyone who works with people, supports loved ones, or simply wants to understand how trauma can affect others.
What the Training Covers (in brief)
The training explains:
What trauma is and how it shows up in everyday life.
The impact trauma has on a person’s body, emotions, and behaviour.
How to respond in supportive ways that avoid re-triggering or overwhelming someone.
Practical tools and principles to help you create safer spaces, whether in personal interactions or organisational settings.
TRAUMA IN ORGANISATIONS
Trauma doesn’t only affect individuals - organisations can also carry trauma. You may have seen this in workplaces or community groups where mistrust, fear, or burnout become the norm. These are signs of a traumatised organisation. Part of trauma-informed practice is learning how to shift those cultures towards greater safety, compassion and resilience, so that not just individuals but whole systems can heal and thrive.
Trauma-informed awareness isn’t about “solving” trauma, it’s about recognising it, respecting it and approaching people with care. When we do this, we not only support others more effectively but we also contribute to building environments where people feel seen, heard, valued and safe.

You can watch the training for free here
I encourage you not only to watch it yourself but also to share it with your networks, workplaces or community groups. This is the kind of knowledge that ripples outwards, making a real difference to our society.
IF YOU NEED SUPPORT
I appreciate that sometimes, reading or learning about trauma can stir up old memories or feelings. If you feel like now might be the right time to seek extra support, here are some places you can start:
Mind UK: 0300 123 3393
NHS Mental Health Helpline: Call 111
Reiki can also be beneficial as it can be conducted without touch and takes place without talking.
If you’re outside the UK, I recommend looking up local hotlines or support networks.
Help is always closer than you think.
With love and light
