Cleansing the Energy of a Space
From a young age I understood that everything, even our homes, absorb and hold energy and so emotional energy can linger, affecting those who inhabit or use the space.
Space cleansing or smudging is common in many cultures across the world. Some cultures use sage, some frankincense but other herbs are also common like juniper, rosemary and bay laurel.
All involve a burning of these herbs as smoke itself symbolises the purification of space, body and spirit, creating a sacred bridge between the spiritual and physical.
HOW I CLEANSE SPACE
I personally love Palo Santo - wood taken from a tree commonly found in South America. Palo Santo means 'Holy Wood' and is said to be from the frankincense family. Just smelling its aroma uplifts the soul and any space, as it transforms low frequency energy back to love.
As well as using it at home, I use it before and after session and classes.
I open the windows for a few minutes as I use Reiki and the beautiful symbols to powerfully infuse the space with harmony, protection and light. I also envoke a prayer inviting in my guides and guardian angels into the space.
Everyone comments on how nice the room smells and how light they feel when they enter.
WHEN TO CLEANSE
You can cleanse your space whenever you feel the need. It could be weekly, monthly, every six months. It can be in line with the changes of the seasons. the moon or on any of the occasions below:

After moving into a new home or space
When someone has transitioned
If someone has been iil for a long time
When there seems to be more arguments than usual
When children or adults are unable to sleep
If the energy of the home or a specific room feels cold, unwelcoming or heavy
Before and after a healing, therapy or counselling session - online or in person
With a pure heart, we can quickly and gently reset the energy of our space which in turn resets something within us. This process offers us a clean energetic slate from which to move into a new segment of our day or a new chapter in our lives.
