Self-Love as the Foundation of Every Relationship
The quality of our relationship with ourselves shapes every other connection in our lives, regardless of whether we're single or in a relationship.
It's sometimes perceived that self-love is just about self-confidence but it's also about how kindly we speak to ourselves, how well we honour our needs and how safe we allow ourselves to be emotionally.
When self-love is present:
Relationships feel lighter and more authentic
We’re less likely to abandon ourselves to placate others
Love becomes something we share, not something we seek to fill a void
With Valentine's Day approaching, our attention is being directed towards romanticised love. Although this day can feel excluding and commercialised to some, we can still see this time as a prompt to tend to our love of self in whatever way feels right.
Self-cultivation is the key to our healing, growth and enlightenment, so when it comes to relationships, both partners should ideally be working on themselves.
When both are seeking deeper inner understanding and are actively doing the work, this positively affects the energy of the relationship, causing it to evolve in alignment with each individual.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
For me, the practice of self-Reiki serves as a profound expression of self-love. By dedicating time and attention to our own healing, we nurture ourselves in ways that foster inner peace and emotional well-being. This calming, loving energy naturally radiates out and positively affects our environments and everyone around us.
This is the greatest act of love.
In the video below, I guide you through a self-Reiki meditation which focuses on offering self-love. The video description also includes a link to a beautifully redesigned and revised edition of '30 Timeless Tips for a Fulfilling Relationship', which you might find useful no matter what your relationship status.
With love and light
