A Journey Beyond Healing: How Reiki Unlocked My True Potential
My first encounter with Reiki wasn't a grand awakening. It was simply a treatment with a friend who was just learning the practice. I felt the energy, but I didn't have any profound insights. At the time, it was just a gentle experience, and I went on with my life without a second thought.
Years later, a friend suggested I try it again, seeing I was struggling with a deep sense of being lost. This time, I met with a Reiki Master. Her approach was different, she guided me to find the pain I was holding, visualize it as something I could hold in my hands, and then throw it away. It was an incredibly emotional experience that led to a difficult but necessary life change. Looking back, that was the first time Reiki truly showed me its power to clear the path forward.
A few years passed, and I found myself at a writer’s workshop, where I met a wonderful woman who was also a Reiki Master. We shared our stories, and after a few distant sessions with her, she told me something that would change everything: she could see that I had the potential to be a practitioner myself.
During the pandemic, I found an affordable course and began my own journey to becoming a Reiki practitioner. I can honestly say that what followed was the most profound awakening I have ever experienced. My friend had told me, "When you learn how to do Reiki, your life will change forever," and that statement was the truest thing I have ever heard.
After my Level One attunement, I experienced a powerful healing reaction. I felt ill as my body cleared out years of accumulated negative energy and things I had held onto for too long. My perception shifted. I started journaling, and I began to see myself and my life with a new clarity. I realized that my other gifts and abilities, which had been dormant, were starting to emerge.
My Level Two attunement turned my entire world around. I had to face things in my relationships and my career that were no longer serving me. It was a period of intense growth, and my psychic abilities, which I had asked to be enhanced in my attunement, kicked in with stunning clarity during a tragic time.
A relative's ex-partner was killed, and I was asked to send him distant Reiki to help with his transition. As I performed the session, I saw what had happened. I saw him in spirit, confused and pacing in a state of limbo, not understanding what had occurred. I had to spiritually hold him and explain that he couldn't return to his body.
In doing so, I saw exactly where he had been hurt, information that was unknown to anyone at the time. It was my first undeniable acknowledgement of my psychic abilities and the true depth of Reiki's power.
Months later, I did another session for my relative. This time, I saw her ex-partner again. He showed me that he was at peace and was able to forgive himself for past behaviors. He had messages for my relative that she understood perfectly. Then, I watched as he was gently led to the light by his father and grandmother, finally free to move on.
Since that time, my journey has continued to unfold through practice with friends and family. It has been a humbling and beautiful experience to witness their transformations, to see them make new choices and step into better versions of themselves. I have also had many occasions where a person who has passed has come through with a message for their loved one, things I could never have known. This has only strengthened my belief that we are all energetic beings in a temporary body.
Even with skeptics, I've found that if they are open to receiving the energy, they walk away with a deep sense of peace and a quiet wisdom that often provides the answers they were seeking. Recently, I was asked by a friend to teach them Level One, and I was overjoyed to guide them through their first attunement. This friend has received many sessions from me over the years, and they were ready to begin their own journey. I was so excited for them, and they were over the moon to feel the shifts for themselves. Their healing reaction was minimal, which was a relief. But what I hadn't expected was how the attunement would affect me. I felt an even stronger link to Reiki, a more powerful energy flowing through me, and my connection to it became almost instantaneous. It was an attunement for me as well.
I have so many stories to tell now, I would be writing for far too long!
I truly love being a channel for Reiki. I love how it helps people in both good and bad times. The experience is always profound. While intention is key, I've learned that ultimately, Reiki will go exactly where it is needed most, and that wisdom is a powerful thing to trust.
