Why You Might Be EnergeticallyTired
I’m sure we’ve all had one of those days where we technically didn’t do very much, yet by the end of the day we feel completely drained.
We look back and think, Why am I so tired? I barely ran any errands, I didn’t workout and my to-do list still has a ton of unchecked boxes… but now I just want to collapse into my cosy bed and sleep... 😴
What I’ve come to realise is that exhaustion isn’t always about what we’re physically doing, it’s also about what we’re energetically holding.
Carrying an Unseen Weight
We often carry an invisible, heavy load that no one else sees. It’s the emotional and mental energy we spend on things like:
Keeping track of everyone else’s needs; family, work, relationships
Constantly planning, organising and anticipating what might go wrong
Holding in emotions to stay ‘strong’ for others
The weight of expectations; who we ‘should’ be, what we ‘should’ do
The endless mental cycle of wondering if we’re doing or being enough
Even when we’re not actively doing anything, our mind and energy are working overtime - and it’s exhausting!
Why This Matters
This constant undercurrent of stressful energy means that some of us are carrying so much that we literally don’t have capacity for more, including the capacity to do the things we deem as enjoyable, creative or playful.
We may think we’re showing up for others but really, we are not showing up fully present. Our ability to hold space for others and ourselves is depleted, our ability to create for ourselves and focus on our desires is minimalised because energetically we are carrying so much stuff - stuff which keeps building up, with no outlet.
How to Lighten the Load
Rather than telling ourselves to ‘just push through’ or to ‘get more organised"‘, it’s important to understand that the way forward is not to do more but to release what we no longer need to carry. This could be by setting boundaries on our time with family, friends and colleagues and regularly checking in with our energy.
Fast Energy Check
We can check in on and replenish our energy by taking a few deep breaths into our hara (lower abdomen), connecting with our body and releasing one expectation at time. Just naming the weight we’re carrying shifts us into awareness, creating space for clarity and ease. Focusing on our breathing gets us out of our head, allowing our worrying thoughts to dissipate and that deeper hara breathing also creates energy / fire energy in our body which fuels us, allowing us to do what we were unable to do before.
As a life coach and spiritual healer, I often hear my clients comment on how light they feel after our session. It’s beautiful to witness.
What’s Next?
If this resonates, I have something very special to share with you next week that will help you to see and begin to clear the patterns that keep you stuck so you can move towards what’s calling you.
Stay tuned - I’ll be sharing all the details soon. 💫
In the meantime, you’re welcome to reply and let me know if you found today’s reflection helpful.
