What Happens During a Reiki Session?
If you are considering Reiki for the first time, it is natural to wonder what actually happens during a session. Understanding the process can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed before your first experience.
Reiki sessions are designed to create a calm and supportive environment where the body can relax and the energy system can rebalance.
Preparing for the Session
A Reiki session often begins with a short conversation between the practitioner and the client. This allows the practitioner to understand how the client is feeling and whether there are any areas they would like support with.
The practitioner may explain how the session will work so the client feels comfortable and informed.
The Reiki Healing Process
During the session, the client usually lies down fully clothed on a treatment table. The practitioner gently places their hands on or just above different areas of the body.
These positions often include:
the head
shoulders
abdomen
legs and feet
The practitioner may follow a sequence of hand placements or be guided intuitively depending on the client’s needs.
What Clients Often Experience
Many people feel warmth, tingling or waves of energy moving through the body during Reiki. Others experience deep relaxation, similar to a meditative state.
Some clients fall asleep during the session, which is completely normal.
Emotions or memories may sometimes arise as the body releases tension or stored emotional energy.
After the Session
When the session is complete, the practitioner gently brings the client back to full awareness. Many people report feeling calmer, lighter and more centred after Reiki.
Some clients notice emotional insights or shifts in the hours or days following the treatment.
Closing Reflection
Each Reiki session is unique, but the intention is always the same: to support relaxation, balance and the natural flow of energy within the body.
With love and light
