Living With More Mental Clarity

Daily wellbeing practices that support mental clarity, focus, and reduced brain fog.

Brain fog is a classic symptom of menopause and peri-menopause but it might surprise you to know that brain fog isn't limited to women only.

Described as trouble focusing, memory difficulties, mental fatigue and feeling overwhelmed, brain fog can be experienced by anyone.

The cause can be stress, academic pressure, chronic illness, mood disorders, sleep deprivation and possibly even excessive screentime.

Towards the end of last year, I found myself struggling with brain fog, primarily due to overwork, so I made some simple changes that I’ve intentionally carried into this year.

As a result, I have my clarity and my memory back!

9 THINGS I DO

Here are some of the things I'm incorporating into my life to keep brain fog at bay:

  1. Scheduling space in my diary for rest, leisure and creativity

  2. Setting better business time boundaries

  3. Taking omega 3 daily - This enhances memory by strengthening brain cell structure, reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow to the brain. (I felt the difference with this almost immediately.)

  4. Drinking more water - Our brain is 75% water so drinking water improves memory and cognition. It also prevents headaches.

  5. No longer saying 'I can't remember' which is a command to our subconscious mind and instead saying 'I will remember', 'It will come to me'

  6. When trying to remember something, I bring my awareness to a point 1-2 feet above my head, knowing that all information exists in 'The Field' and instantly the information drops in!

  7. Breathing more deeply and slowly as much as possible to get more oxygen to the brain.

  8. Reading physical books - Reading makes us focus on each word and not just scan things. In addition to this our memory is temporarily improved when we move our eyes from side to side as we read.

  9. Mental maths - it's so easy to use a calculator app but I try to calculate things mentally as much as possible now (then check the calculator😅). This improves our working memory and short-term attention.

I'm also getting better at only doing what needs to be done that day and doing one thing at a time.
