5 Ways to Develop Your Intuition
I've previously shared ways in which we can trust our intuition but today I wanted to focus on the steps we can take to actually build our intuition and connect more strongly to our 3rd eye or 'inner eye'.
Developing our intuition calms the constant seeking for answers and next steps from sources outside of ourselves. We are all born with a highly tuned sixth sense but for many of us, this is soon quashed by a need to adapt to the practicalities of a life based on thinking (and overthinking) rather than feeling.
Silent Meditation
Set an intention to connect to your highest self and deepest wisdom for the benefit of all. Then sit in silence for 40 minutes or more. This time is needed to allow your cognitive mind to go offline. You will eventually notice your mind chatter has quietened down enough to hear your inner voice and perhaps you might even see images that bring you deeper insights.
Another method is to go into meditation and focus your attention on the top of your head (crown chakra). The crown chakra is our connection to our highest self. Relax and wait until you feel a tingling sensation on your crown and just focus lightly there for 20 minutes or more without expectation.
Get Present
As you go through your day, become fully aware of each of your 5 senses and the information being picked up. This will begin to fine-tune your sensitivity and trigger your sixth sense. In fact, it's said that the '6th sense' is just the 5 senses attuned to their highest ability.
Write Down Your Dreams
Our subconscious mind likes to communicate with us through our dreams. When it sees that we are paying attention to our dreams it will begin to communicate with us more strongly and more frequently. When we write down our dreams, perhaps in a dream diary, we can start to see patterns and gain insights about our waking life that we would otherwise have missed. This is also the way to begin a journey into lucid dreaming if this appeals to you.
Spend Time in Nature
Getting away from technology and other daily distractions is a great way to detoxify the body and be in a space with reduced radio waves which can interfere with our body's own electromagnetic field. Filling up on the high vibrational light energy being emitted by trees and plants is a real tonic for our energy body, our 3rd eye and for building our innate intuitive ability.
Free Writing
Free writing allows the subconscious mind to come through, bypassing our analytical thinking. Start with a blank piece of paper and simply begin writing, even if it's 'I don't know what to write' over and over again. Gradually you will start writing whatever comes into your deeper mind which may prove to be a revealing exercise. If you prefer, you can begin by asking a meaningful question like 'Why am I here?' and start writing to see what comes through.
