How to Cope With Being Sensitive to Energy or Being an Empath

Updated: Feb 15, 2022

Due to my work, I regularly meet people who are literally left overwhelmed and exhausted because of how intensely they experience other people's energies as they go about their daily lives. Those who are hypersensitive to the energy of others are more commonly called 'Empaths'.

For some empaths, busy trains, buses, shopping malls, restaurants, wine bars, airport lounges or any crowded area will leave them wanting to run for the hills. When exposed in this way, many may suffer from headaches, dizziness and they may even develop anxiety or neurological problems such as fibromyalgia.

What is an Empath Sensing?

Everything is energy including our thoughts and emotions. Our thoughts and emotions emit a signal at a certain frequency and this signal goes out beyond our physical body. If someone is walking around feeling stressed, worried or anxious, they are basically emitting a strong, low-vibrational signal and this signal can be felt energetically by others. If you have a group of people gathered in the same place, predominantly feeling similar low emotions, even though they are not interacting with each other, their combined energies can be intensely felt by an Empath. It's as if they are walking into a concentrated field of energy.

6 Tips for Managing Energy Sensitivity

~BE THE LIGHT~

Below are some simple tips to help you cope if you are energy-sensitive or an empath.

1. Control Your Vibration

  • Control your own vibration so the energy you are emitting becomes more dominant. The frequencies of 'love' and 'appreciation' are both more powerful than any lower emotion so when you walk into a room your higher energy will dominate and uplift others rather than you being affected by their lower mood.

2. Connect to Feelings of Love and Appreciation

  • Raise your vibration in the morning and throughout the day by thinking thoughts of love and appreciation, writing a gratitude list or visualising people, things or places you love.

3. Practice Daily Meditation & Mindfulness

  • Daily meditation and mindfulness are great ways to raise your vibrational frequency and control anxiety. Mindfulness also allows you to accept your surroundings and situation without judgement, leaving you less sensitive to what is happening around you.

4. Surround Yourself in Light

  • Visualise yourself surrounded in a ball of loving, light energy before you leave your home. This protects you from exposure to the energies of lower emotions by transmuting them to love.

5. Send a Loving Energy Ball Ahead

  • Send loving energy ahead to your destination. For example, you can take a couple of minutes to see the train, building, area or place surrounded in a ball of loving light. See yourself arriving at your destination and walking into this ball of bright, loving light.

6. Get Grounded

  • Doing things to help you feel grounded once you get home is also useful, such as taking a shower as soon as you get home (include 15 seconds on cold if you can), adding Himalayan salt, or lavender essential oil to your bath, drinking lots of water or spending time in nature literally touching the earth with your bare feet.

I hope you find these tips useful. True freedom comes when you decide to no longer live in fear of crowds and connection to others but instead you affirm that you are the light.
